CD Players for Kids

I have just updated my Squidoo lens on CD Players for Kids. I think that CD players make great gifts for children and will grow with your child. The music they listen to will develop as your child grows up. CD players also allow your child to listen to audio books which can be great at bedtime.

Of course CD players for children come in all types, often based on favorite characters, such as Toy Story CD Players. The main requirement for these is that they should be inexpensive yet at the same time well built enough to stand up the type of use and abuse that children can tend to give to their possessions.

My lens reviews some of the best selling models and provides an overview of their functionality.

The Omega 8006 Juicer

Extracting juice from fruit and vegetables is a great way to improve your diet and nutritional intake. A good juicer should be able to cope easily with both soft and hard fruit and vegetables, as well as more leafy varieties. The Omega 8006 Juicer does exactly that. Unlike some juicers it is well constructed with the main part is guaranteed for 15 years. It is also much quieter than many other juicers. The Omega 8006 is an extremely efficient juicer and will extract most of the juice from what you are juicing.

Also, unlike most other juicers, the Omega 8006 also comes with a pasta extruder for making spaghetti and linguini. It will also grind coffee, spices and make nut butters.

All in all I think the Omega 2006 Juicer is a great machine and a fantastic addition to any kitchen.

A Review of the Barbie CD Player and Karaoke Boombox

If your child loves Barbie and loves music then the Barbie CD Player and Karaoke Boombox has to be amongst their must have gifts. Of course this device not only allows them to listen to their favourite music but also gives them the opportunity to sing along as well giving them the chance to act out their dreams of being a singing superstar.

Decorated in bright pink and silver colours with a Barbie logo on the top, this is clearly aimed at girls. With stylish curves and an array of chrome effect buttons and knobs it should look good in any girl's bedroom. The CDs load at the top of this unit and the various controls and the LED display are on the front. The LED is a counter telling you which track of the CD you are currently listening to. The controls are well laid out and it is all very easy to operate. It is all well constructed with children in mind so will stand a certain amount of misuse. In fact this CD player and karaoke boombox comes with a 2 year guarantee which is very unusual for such models within this price range.

This CD player takes standard format CDs, but also will take karaoke format (CD+G) discs which allow you to connect your device to a television so that the words are displayed on the screen as it plays. Great if your child can't remember the words or indeed if timing is not her strong point. The audio and video cables are included.

Included with this model is one microphone, but it does have the ability to take two so your child can sing duets. Perhaps you could have parent and child singing competitions! Being a karaoke it also includes vocal effects including echo, auto voice control and balance control. Each microphone input has their own volume control.

This model is powered by mains electricity or by 8 "C" batteries (which are not included).

The sturdy construction, stylish looks and ease of operation make the Barbie CD Player and Karaoke Boombox the perfect gift for your music loving Barbie fan. You can be sure that she will enjoy singing along to all of her favourite songs and showing off her talents to friends and family. Or perhaps she could host her own mini singing competition. Not to mention it making a great addition to any Barbie themed child's bedroom.

CD Players for Kids: Review of the Duronic Portable CD Player

Finding the right CD player for yourself or for your child is not always as easy as you might think. If you are looking for a compact unit with good sound quality then you should look no further than the Duronic RCD025P Portable CD Player. This neat little player is small enough to be carried around so you can listen to your music anywhere. It is not designed to be played too loudly, however it is easily loud enough for most purposes. In fact this might be seen as an advantage if you are a parent.

It takes standard CDs as well as CD-RWs (although not recordings in MP3 format) and you can plug in your MP3 player, Iphone or Ipod into this player, although the cable to connect them is not included.

Also included is an AM/FM radio so you can take your favourite radio station around with you as well. The telescopic antenna improves radio reception.

The Duronic CD Player comes in a range of colours according to your preference including pink, white, black and red and has an attractively simple slim design. It can be stood upright while in use, or indeed laid flat - either way it works just as well. It is simple to use and well made which makes it suitable for children, although is actually suitable for anyone who wants a small portable audio system. The LCD display helps you to keep up with what track you are on. The skip and search feature allows you to quickly find the specific track that you want.

When you are wanting to use it as a portable player it is powered by four "C" batteries, although you do also have the option of plugging it into the mains electricity.

The problem with many boomboxes designed for children is that although they are designed to be carried around, they are really just too big to be truly portable. This is certainly not the case with the Duronic Portable CD Player with its compact design means you really can listen to your music wherever you want to. Of course a major issue for CD players for kids is that they should be able to stand up to the daily use and abuse that children can cause to their belongings. The simple design of the Duronic means that it is sturdy enough to withstand being used by children.

Overall, the Duronic Portable CD Player is great choice for children and looks stylish in any child's bedroom.

Choosing CD Players for Kids

CD players are a great gift for children. After all it is a gift that grows with your child. From their earliest years of listening to gentle music to help them sleep, to listening to stories, through to singing along with children's songs, before they inevitably move on to pop and rock music as they get older. There is a great range of CD players for kids available. Young children particularly enjoy sing along CD players which incorporate a microphone (or in some cases two) so that they can sing along. If there are two microphones you can of course sing along with your child..

The other popular option are boomboxes which are self-contained units so are very portable, so your child can listen to their music wherever they happen to be in their house. Generally they offer a reasonable sound quality and are much cheaper than full blown sound systems. Many are brightly coloured which children love, while others are themed according to well known TV and movie characters. Why Cordless Lawn Mowers Are So Much Better

Mowing the lawn is one of those tasks that tends to divide gardeners; either they find it somehow therapeutic bringing a sense of order to the garden, or they see it as something that just eats up their time which could be used doing more useful things. Either way, it is important to have the right tool for the job.

Owners of traditional gas powered lawn mowers will be used to the great performance that they generally give, but also of the hassles that go with them. Of course there is the hassle of having to deal with gasoline and oil cans, not to mention the ever increasing expense. Then there is the erratic starting, particularly at the beginning of the season. And your neighbors will tell you about the noise that they produce.

Corded electric lawn mowers overcome many of these issues, but of course you are limited by having to deal with the electric cable. You could use extension cables, but this has serious safety implications.

Cordless lawn mowers feature the best of both types, with none of the downsides. Advances in battery technology also mean that you mow for much longer before you need to re-charge. In fact most modern models will mow up 1/3 acre on a single charge.

The Advantage of Cordless Lawn Mowers

Mowing the lawn can be seen by some as a chore, but by others as rather therapeutic, but however you see it the importance of a good lawn mower to get the job done well cannot be overstated. For many years gardeners have had a simple choice between gas powered mowers and corded electric mowers. However, with advances in rechargeable batteries, cordless lawn mowers have grown significantly in popularity.

Cordless mowers have many advantages over their gas powered counterparts. For example, there none of the hassle and mess of having to deal with gasoline and oil cans. Starting is considerably easier as there is no pull cord to contend with; from experience some gas powered mowers can be very temperamental at starting, particularly towards the beginning of the season. Another factor is noise in that cordless mowers are significantly quieter so no need to worry about disturbing the neighbors.

While corded electric lawn mowers possess many of the advantages referred to above, they are also rather limited by the fact that you have to be plugged into your power source to use it. Therefore you are limited as to how far you can go from your house. Whilst you could use extension cords, this clearly has safety implications.

Cordless lawn mowers are therefore a great solution for anyone who is fed up with the hassle of gas powered mowers, but do not want to be limited by having an electric cable trailing behind them as they are mowing the grass.
